After such a long time, I am posting my latest work on Kali Maa. She is one of the powerful goddess in hindu deity. Kali Maa is considered as the goddess of time and change.
The name Kali comes from kāla, which means black, time, or death!
There is festival named 'Navratri' which celebrated in honour of Hindu goddess Maa Shakti Or Maa Durga. Nav' means 'nine' and 'ratri' means 'night'. Thus, 'Navratri' means 'nine nights'. In some communities, people undergo rigorous fasts during this season that lasts for the nine days of Navratri. It is celebrated four times a year.
I have made this Kali Maa painting in Navratri only..:) Below is the photograph of the flower border done to the painting.
A Close-up shot of Kali Maa, where you can see the anger in her eyes, and the jewelery .
I hope you all will like this.
Base: Canvas
Made Using: Acrylics
Size: 12"X12"
Very nice painting of Maa kali. The red hot background does good to the painting.

This is wonderful! And the information that goes with it makes it so much more startling! Great work Megha.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting to read about Kali Maa, Megha.
ReplyDeleteThe painting is wonderful!
She does have angry eyes and great jewelry. Very detailed, beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot to all of you for your nice words! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful work of art. Much detail and very colorful. I like all the history you give, especially since I know nothing really about Hindu deities. Now, this Kali Maa does not appear to be a very benevolent deity.
ReplyDeleteIf I get to India, I am hoping my friend will come for a few weeks. She loves art and has some lovely pieces in her home. Hopefully, we can come to see you and, perhaps, she will buy one of your works.
@ RNSANE: I always await your comments Carmen! I too like the mythological stories behind the Indian Culture.
ReplyDeleteYou both are most welcome to our country and our home. Thanks for appreciating.
